Preparation
The course of study is determined by the Candidate Body of Knowledge which is grounded in practice. CFA Institute believes that cadidates need to commit a minimum of 250 hours reading and review the curriculum and taking sample exams to master the material. This recommendation, however, may substantially underestimate the hours needed for appropriate exam preparation depending on individual circumstances and academic background. You may also want to view the webcasts with information about the CFA exam:

Preparation Course Providers
When deciding to use any of the available prep course providers, please take a moment to consider the following issues and ask yourself these questions.CFA Institute and CFA Netherlands do not endorse, promote, review, or warrant the accuracy of the products or services offered by any provider or endorse the pass rates claimed by any providers. In principle, the CFA Program is a self study course, however, CFA Institute launched the Prep Provider Guidelines Program in July 2006 in order to develop and improve the information provided to CFA candidates about the variety of supplemental tools available for exam preparation. Providers who participate in the new program agree to follow guidelines and high standards in their promotions and communication materials for candidates. Better information about effectively preparing for the exam, and more accurate information about provider options, should help candidates make more informed decisions to select the product that will best meet their learning needs. Look for the "Follows CFA Institute Prep Provider Guidelines" tagline in provider materials. This tagline indicates participation in the guidelines program. View the current list of participants in the Prep Provider Guidelines Program participants.
